NovaTec develops custom IT systems following the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI). CMMI allows to objectively estimate the capabilities of development processes. The advantage for the customer is a guarantee that the purchased IT services and IT systems are of pursuable high quality.

In March 2010 NovaTec has been appraised at Maturity Level 2 of CMMI (version 1.2) by an SEI-certified Lead Appraiser.

This certification emphasizes NovaTec’s claim to deliver products and services in a constant high quality by utilizing well defined processes in software engineering.

CMMI Maturity Level 2 defines the maturity level "Managed".

This indicates the systematical use of management processes for project planning, management and monitoring.

In particular the following seven process areas are covered:

Requirements Management: All Requirements of a project are captured, analyzed and estimated. It is granted that potential divergences between requirements, planning and results are systematically identified and communicated.Project Planning: The initially captured Requirements are implemented in a project plan containing the common attributes like budget, schedule, resources, risks etc.

Project Monitoring and Control: Ability to execute the project by following the project plan and to be able to appropriately react on deviations from the plan.

Supplier Agreement Management: If parts of the project are not realized by the own project organization but by subcontractors or suppliers it is granted that their processes and results match the same requirements. Covered areas are the selection of suitable suppliers and the contractual agreement on rights and responsibilities of both parties. A separate project plan generated by the subcontractor and approved by the contractor is typically used for monitoring the subcontractor and therefore part of the agreement.

Measurement and Analysis: Management is provided with project information as a foundation for necessary decisions.

Process and Product Quality Assurance: All work results and all related processes are permanently and objectively reviewed.

Configuration Management: The integrity of all work results, meaning plans, documentation and code fragments is systematically ensured.

SCAMPI Class A Appraisal

The purpose of a "SCAMPI Class A Appraisal" is to measure and to appraise the fulfillment of the requirements of the CMMI model. The accurateness, the correctness and the auditability of the results is assured. The complete appraisal following the „Appraisal Requirements for CMMI (ARC)“ is called a “Class A Appraisal”.
